Getting to know nice people at a Beach Party with a welcoming drink making new friends is top priority in the Zimba.

"Maisäß" Mountain breakfast and Grill-hut evening

The "Maisäß" is our comfortable mountain log-cabin situated in a clearing in the woods. After a short walk to the grill-hut there follows a lively get- together with lots of fun traditional music beer straight from the barrel or a glass of mulled wine. Our Alpine hut is the right spot for lively evenings. Later in the evening of course, in the magic ambience of our log-cabin, celebrations and dancing are a must.

Heike G. (house-wife) from Bremerhaven: Walter Huber, the driving force of the Alpenhotel Zimba, is a passionate Hotelier and "Gastwirt" in the true sense of the word. His deep knowledge of the Rätikon / Silvretta Alps, his kitchen skills, his presence at Reception and Service and around the guest-rooms are in constant evidence. His favorite domain, however, is his mountain hut, situated in a nearby clearing in the trees, where open-air breakfasts and evening grill parties provide much enjoyable entertainment. He is also in his element taking his guests for long mountain walks. One day my young nephew came back inspired from a walk with Walter, telling us excitedly of magnificent fire salamanders, quick darting squirrels and shy slow-worms, all experienced in natural surroundings. Wild life which he had only known previously from the internet.

Guided Walks

Man of the house Walter takes charge of the finest walks with all his guests. As a mountain guide with many years experience he knows the Rätikon Alps like the back of his hand. Whether in the high mountains or on low-level walks, you will be inspired by our picturesque scenery with beautiful valley foot-paths and walks round the Lünersee Lake. Tours up to a height of 3000 meters await the mountain fans.

Swimming pond

After a hot day's walking a welcome dip into the heated waters of our 50 sq. meters open-air swimming-pond, fed from our own natural springs. Afterwards lazily relax on the sun-bathing lawn.

Cocktail Evenings

You are invited to linger a while in our spacious bar, while Bernhard and Nini mix your cocktails, or perhaps you may prefer draught beer from the barrel?

Regular guests Peter and Sylvie W. (language lecturers) from Mannheim: Actually I only wanted to escape the oppressive, sultry summer, which for days had stultified Mannheim. My Travel office then recommended me to take a week's walking holiday for my own well-being in the Alpenhotel Zimba. Thoroughly tired from my first walk to the Sarotla hut, but fortified by Bernhard Huber's cookery skill, the evening in the elegant comfort of the Zimba Hausbar was meant to ring out. However the perfectly mixed Caipirinha changed my life for ever. I got to know Sylvie from Nancy, who – a year after our heavy ZimBar-Whispering – has become my wife for life.
